One plugin per decision — all of them actually listen to the track.
MarkovSound builds a focused AI plugin for each job in your signal chain — mastering, EQ, compression, and more. Each one measures what's actually happening in the signal, talks you through it in plain language, and only processes the track once you ask it to.
VST3 & AU · JUCE-built · no raw audio ever leaves your machine
One focused plugin per job, sold separately.
Not one plugin trying to do everything — a growing family, each one built around a single decision in your signal chain.
Master
Mastering & EQ advisor
The first plugin in the family, already built. Listens to your channel, talks you through mastering and EQ decisions, and only processes the signal once you ask it to.
See the architecture →Equalizer
Full-mix-aware EQ advisor
Tell it the instrument and the style you're going for. It suggests EQ moves through the session based on how the rest of the mix sounds, not just its own channel.
Compressor
Real-time compression advisor
Add it to a track, ask for compression advice, and shape the dynamics together in real time — the same back-and-forth as Master, applied to compression.
More AI plugins are planned for the same family — one focused job each, all built the same way.
Also from MarkovSound — no AI
Guitar Booster
Pure DSP front-of-amp booster — no AI, no chat
Two selectable engines: Classic Booster, a transparent boost that works across genres, and Markov Dark Edge, reverse-engineered from a real hardware pedal and voiced specifically for Djent and low-tuned 8-string guitar tone. Built, installed, and currently in testing.
Ear fatigue is real, and most mastering tools work around it instead of fixing it.
No reference
You've been staring at the same mix for six hours. Your ears adapted to your own mistakes an hour ago.
No mastering engineer on call
A second opinion from someone who masters for a living costs real money and takes days you don't have before a release.
Presets guess. They don't listen.
A one-click "master" preset doesn't know your crest factor is already clipped or your low end is 6 dB hot — it just applies the same curve to everything.
Three steps, and the last one only happens if you ask for it.
This is Master in action today — every other plugin in the lineup follows the same three-step pattern, just applied to a different decision.
It analyzes, not guesses
AudioAnalyzer runs on a rolling buffer of your channel and computes RMS, peak, crest factor, spectral centroid, and low/mid/high band energy — real numbers pulled from the actual signal, not a canned preset.
You talk to it like an engineer, not a knob
Tell it the target sound in plain language — a genre, a reference, "tighter low end." It reasons over your measurements against a curated catalog of real free plugins and your DAW's own stock bundle, and only ever recommends what's actually in that list.
It stays hands-off until you say otherwise
Every instance defaults to advisory: feedback in the chat panel, zero effect on audio. Flip a channel to "main" and its MasteringChain — multiband compressor, parametric EQ, gate, booster — un-bypasses and actually processes that bus.
Privacy by construction: only the extracted numbers — never raw audio — are sent to the backend for reasoning.
RMS · peak · crest factor · spectral centroid · band energyEight modules, one signal path.
This is Master's own architecture, the plugin available today. Equalizer, Compressor, and everything else in the lineup will each get their own.
AudioAnalyzer
Rolling-buffer signal analysis: RMS, peak, crest factor, spectral centroid, band energy.
MasteringChain
The real DSP path on your master bus — only active once a channel is set to "main."
MultibandCompressor
Independent dynamics control across low, mid, and high bands.
ParametricEQ
Precision tonal shaping, driven by what the analyzer actually measured.
Gate
Clean up bleed and noise floor before anything else touches the signal.
Booster
Transparent loudness gain, applied last, sized to the amount you dial in.
Chat panel
Describe the target sound and get reasoning back — not just a number to turn.
State recall
Role, target description, DAW, preset index, and reasoning round-trip with your session.
We'd rather tell you what's not done yet.
This is Master specifically — a working plugin with real DSP, not a mockup, but not packaged for sale yet. For where Equalizer, Compressor, and Guitar Booster each stand, see the lineup.

Aleksei Markov
A lifelong musician who also happens to write software for a living. MarkovSound Technologies started with a simple idea: AI support on a per-track basis, specifically for mastering and EQ decisions — built to solve a problem I kept running into myself, finishing a mix alone at 1am with no second pair of ears in the room. That problem is solved for me now — and making sure it's solved for you too has become the mission.
Get in before it's a normal download.
No spam, no drip campaign — just an email when a build is ready to put in your DAW, and occasional notes on what changed and why.
Straight answers, including the boring ones.
- Is this one plugin, or several?
- Several, by design. MarkovSound builds a focused plugin for each decision — Master (mastering & EQ) is first, with Equalizer and Compressor planned — plus a separate, non-AI Guitar Booster line. Each is sold on its own, not bundled.
- Is Master available to buy right now?
- No. It's a working plugin with real DSP, but there's no installer, code signing, or licensing yet — see the status list above. Early-access members get first access once there is one.
- What DAWs does Master work in?
- It's built as a standard VST3/AU plugin via JUCE, so it loads in any host that supports those formats. Stock-plugin recommendations are currently verified for Studio One only; other DAWs are being mapped.
- Does it send my audio anywhere?
- No. Master extracts numeric features (RMS, peak, crest factor, spectral centroid, band energy) locally and sends only those numbers to the reasoning backend — never raw audio.
- Will it touch my mix without asking?
- No. Every instance starts in advisory mode — chat feedback only, zero effect on the signal. It only processes audio on a channel you've explicitly switched to "main."
- What does it recommend — real plugins or made-up ones?
- The backend is constrained to a curated catalog of real free plugins plus your DAW's own stock bundle. It can't recommend something that isn't in that list.
